When Maddy, 15, began this film with Rose, 80, she had never heard of the profession of homemaker.  Here’s what she discovered in this project called Greatest Girls, a collaboration between teen girls and elder women to make films about growing up then and now.

Photographer Richard Ross interviews and photographs teenage girls who are in a juvenile detention center in order to raise awareness about the hardships of their lives. Working with the Minnesota History Center’s Greatest Generation program, TVbyGIRLS teamed up with elder women to tell the story of growing up, then and now.  7 girls and 7 elders made 7 films together.  This video is about Edith Davis, one of the first people to bring acupuncture to the Twin Cities.

Tech businesswoman Regina Agyare has been teaching girls in Ghana coding since January 2014. The girls run their own blog about their lives and have gained many coding abilities. Regina Agyare hopes her project will have a positive impact on the girls in this community, giving them more opportunity to pursue a higher education if they want to. Read more in this CNN article.
