Take a look at some of the work from TVbyGIRLS 13 year history working with teen girls to make films that matter. As we are developing a curriculum to use these films, we had a lot of fun watching them again. We hope you do too!

Molly is a wonderful filmmaker (now in college for exactly that ) and this piece is about a challenge she felt when she was 12. How do you navigate between different friends as your life grows? We all know what that feels like and Molly captures it with amazing images and clarity.

TVbyGIRLS often make pieces we call “Challenges”—which is something that a girl is struggling with in her life. A film is made to help reflect that back for her. This ‘challenge’ piece was created when 3 girls picked one challenge they all share—having a sibling! The makers of this film, Kaisi, Molly and Maddy, have now graduated from college and are taking their skills out to the world!

Girls in an afterschool program at the WISE school in north Minneapolis made some great work. Their four videos are highlighted here. “Angry” is an emotion poem. “Be a Leader” and “Standing Up for U” are about identifying a big problem in their school—bullying.  In the final video, “Beautiful,” we asked the girls to tell us why they were beautiful and they did!

Watch “Beautiful,” which is embedded in this post and click the video titles above to watch the rest of the WISE girls’ videos on youtube!
