(Emily Ann) Annie This fall, I'll be a freshman. I love cooking, photography, filmmaking (of course) and journalism. I write for my school district's youth voice newspaper and I love it! I also enjoy playing tennis. I'm a bit of a computer nerd, and my friends and family call me a "techie". My favorite books are the Harry Potter series and To Kill a Mockingbird. My favorite subject in school is history. I first heard about TVbyGIRLS, I thought I would just learn about how to make a movie, but the experience has been so much more. Not only did I learn how to create a meaningful, authentic film, but I've learned many other skills. I've learned how to think visually, communicate with people and interview. (When I joined TVbyGIRLS, I was super shy and scared to death of interviewing!) I've become so much more aware the importance of youth voice, especially girls' voices, and how we can have an impact using the media. I love that we can tell real stories and open people's eyes. I feel like it's my responsibility now to represent girls, because everyone's story counts and is important. I feel like I've really grown in experience, knowledge and confidence during my time in TVbyGIRLS. It's also been so inspiring to me to be surrounded by such brilliant, eloquent, thoughtful girls and women. back to profiles main page > |
